Frequently asked questions
How myutils.me signs in to the Income Tax portal for you, what it keeps, who can see it, and how the employer requests and free tools work.
About the service
What is myutils.me?
myutils.me is a free, independent web app. For each PAN you add, it signs in to the Income Tax portal with the PAN and portal password you save, and brings back ITR status, refunds, AIS/TIS, tax deposits, outstanding demands and filed forms into one dashboard. Whether you look after your own PAN or many for family or clients, it saves you logging in to the portal for each one. Employers can also ask a candidate to share income from the candidate's own tax records, with the candidate's consent.
Is myutils.me affiliated with the government or the Income Tax Department?
No. myutils.me is an independent, third-party software service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the Government of India, the Income Tax Department, the e-Filing Portal, or any other government agency. We are not an official government website. We fetch and organise the tax data available on the Income Tax portal, using the PAN and password you provide.
Does myutils.me show advertisements or use analytics tools?
Yes. The site is free and paid for by advertising: some pages show labelled ads, including affiliate banners and, where enabled, Google AdSense. We also use analytics and error-monitoring services to understand usage and fix problems. The Privacy Policy explains this and how to opt out of personalised ads.
What other free tools and citizen utilities are available on myutils.me?
In addition to multi-PAN tax tracking, myutils.me provides free, standalone public utilities including our e-Aadhaar Digital Signature Verifier (/aadhaar), our PDF Signature Verifier for any digitally signed PDF (/verify-pdf-signature), and our Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Electoral Roll Search (/sir). All of them are free and need no account.
Syncing and security
How does myutils.me securely fetch my tax data?
When you add a PAN, you save its Income Tax portal password. We then sign in to the portal with that PAN and password and bring back your data for that PAN. This happens when you add the PAN and when you sync it; there is no schedule. Portal accounts that use two-factor login are not supported yet, and the sync stops with an error that says so.
Is my data and password secure with you?
Your portal password is stored encrypted and used only to sign in to the portal for you. It is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is saved and is never sent back to your browser. We do not sell your data. Data you choose to share with an employer goes only to that employer; the Privacy Policy explains who else may process data for us, such as hosting, analytics and advertising providers.
What happens if the official tax portal is down?
A sync depends on the portal being available. If the portal is down for maintenance or not responding, the sync stops with an error and your previously synced data stays as it was. Press Sync again once the portal is back; the app does not retry later on its own.
How long does a background sync typically take?
A background sync typically requires anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes to complete. This duration is highly dependent on the current responsiveness of the official tax portal and the volume of historical ITR data associated with your PAN. When the sync finishes, the dashboard shows the new data without a page reload.
What if the data shown is incorrect or does not match my records?
myutils.me displays your tax data exactly as returned by the official income tax portal and does not claim any guarantee or responsibility for its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. If you notice any errors, mismatches, or outdated information, kindly re-sync your profile from the dashboard or verify the data directly on the official income tax portal, which remains the authoritative source of truth.
Your dashboard and account
How does myutils.me help individual taxpayers?
You see your filed returns and their status for each assessment year, refund status, AIS/TIS (the Annual Information Statement and Taxpayer Information Summary) and tax deposits in one dashboard, without logging in to the portal each time. Press Sync to fetch the latest from the portal. The intimation, filed ITR form and acknowledgement are fetched from the portal when you download them.
How does myutils.me help CAs and tax professionals?
You can add PANs in bulk from a CSV or Excel file (a template is provided), sync pending, selected or all PANs, filter and sort by assessment year and status, and download an Excel (.xlsx) sheet with PAN, name, ITR form, filing date, status and last action date for one assessment year. Data is as of each PAN's last sync; nothing updates on a schedule.
Can I change my registered email address?
Not in the app. Settings shows the email address you signed up with, but it can't be edited there. To move your account to a different address, email support@myutils.me from your current address and tell us the new one.
Can I manage multiple PAN profiles from one account?
Yes. There is no PAN limit. You can add your own PAN, your family's or your clients' PANs to one account and see them together on the dashboard.
Can I remove a profile if I no longer want to track it?
Yes. Deleting a profile removes it from your dashboard and stops any further syncs for it.
How do I download my data to my computer?
Use Download on the dashboard to save an Excel (.xlsx) status sheet for one assessment year, with PAN, name, ITR form, filing date, status and last action date. On a profile page you can download the intimation, filed ITR form and acknowledgement, fetched from the portal when you press download.
Can I install this app on my device and use it offline?
Yes. The app is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it directly onto your device (on iOS Safari, tap the Share button and select Add to Home Screen; on Android or Desktop Chrome, click Install App in Settings).
Once installed, it opens from your home screen. Pages you have already opened while online are kept in your browser's cache, so they open again without a connection; new data needs a connection and a sync.
Employers and candidates
How does myutils.me help employers and HR teams?
Employers can verify a candidate's income and employment history from the candidate's own Income Tax records, with the candidate's consent. You choose which income categories to request (salary, business and profession, sale of investments and property, rent, other sources, or total taxable income), mark each as mandatory or optional, and pick 1 to 5 years of history. You can also ask for the candidate's personal information (name, contact details, date of birth, gender, address and the last 4 digits of Aadhaar). The candidate syncs from the official portal and chooses what to share, and you see it in a read-only, year-by-year view. Workspaces support Admins, Members, and Viewers. Learn more at /employers.
I received an income verification request from an employer. Is it safe to respond?
The request only asks you to share; nothing leaves your account until you confirm. Open the link from the email and sign in with the email address it was sent to (the link will not work from another account). You will see which employer is asking, which income categories and personal information are required or optional, and how many years they need. Your Aadhaar number is only ever shared as its last 4 digits. You sync from the official Income Tax portal, preview exactly what will be shared, and choose any optional categories before sharing. If you do not recognise the employer, simply ignore the email.
How long does a verification link stay valid?
The employer chooses, between 1 and 30 days; 7 days is the default. The expiry date is shown in the email and on the request page. If a link expires before you respond, ask the employer to renew it; resending the email alone does not extend the expiry date.
What happens after I share my income data with an employer?
The employer's workspace receives a read-only copy of the categories and years you shared, as they were at the time of sharing; it is not updated if you sync again later. Only that employer's team can see it. You can see every request you have received under Verifications in your account. To ask for a shared copy to be removed, contact the employer and contact us.
Free tools
How do the e-Aadhaar and PDF Signature Verifiers work, and is my PDF uploaded to your servers?
Both verifiers check the PDF in your browser. Your PDF and its password are not uploaded or stored on our servers. The tool checks the embedded signature against the India CCA root certificates; to complete the certificate chain your browser may fetch the issuer's public certificate through our certificate lookup service, which receives only that certificate's address. It can then produce a print-ready copy with a "signature valid" mark. Whether a printout is accepted is up to the office receiving it. The PDF Signature Verifier works the same way for other digitally signed PDFs such as e-PAN, ITR-V, Form 16, GST invoices, DigiLocker certificates, and West Bengal e-Ration Cards.
How does the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) Electoral Roll search work?
The SIR search tool allows you to search published draft and final electoral rolls by selecting your State and entering your 10-character EPIC (Voter ID) number, or browsing by District and Assembly Constituency. It shows your part number and serial number and lets you open the published roll PDF. Searches go through our server to the Election Commission's public website; we are not affiliated with the Election Commission.
Can I share the verified PDF from the signature verifier digitally?
The verified copy is meant for printing only. Its digital signature is removed so the green tick (✔) shows consistently on paper, which means it can't be verified again as a digitally signed document. If you need to share the document digitally (for example by email or upload to a portal), share the original PDF issued to you instead.
