This policy explains what myutils.me collects when you use it, why, who can see it, which outside services are involved, and how to ask for your data to be deleted. It covers the tax dashboard, employer requests, the free tools and the rest of this website.
In this Privacy Policy, “we”, “us”, “our” refer to myutils.me and the people who run it; “you”, “your” refer to you, the person using the service; and “Platform” refers to this website, its installable app and related services. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@myutils.me.
1. Information We Collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, account password and sign-in records. Email one-time passwords (OTPs) are used at sign-up and when you reset your password.
- Portal credentials: the Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Income Tax portal password you save for each profile, so that we can sign in to the portal for you (see Section 3).
- Data synced from the Income Tax portal: for each PAN, the information the portal returns when we sign in, such as your portal profile, ITR filings and their status, refunds, tax payments, demands and your AIS and TIS.
- Documents you download: the intimation, filed ITR form and acknowledgement are fetched from the portal when you download them and passed to your browser; we do not keep a copy.
- Employer and verification data: if you set up an employer account, your company’s name, legal name, website, address, PAN and GSTIN, and the details of your team members. If you send a verification request, the candidate’s name, email address and, optionally, PAN that you provide. If you share data in response to a request, a copy of the data you choose to share (see Section 12).
- Messages: what you send through the contact form or by email.
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser and device details, pages visited, clicks and scrolls, errors and performance timings, collected by the services described in Sections 6 and 7.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To sign in to the Income Tax portal for the PANs you add and show you the results.
- To run your account: sign-in, OTP emails, password resets and security checks.
- To run income and employment verification requests: emailing you an employer’s request and, only if you choose to share, showing that employer what you shared.
- To answer support requests and fix problems with your syncs.
- To measure how the site is used, find and fix errors, and keep it secure.
- To show advertising, which pays for the free service (see Section 7).
We do not sell your personal data or your tax data, and we do not give your tax data to advertisers.
3. Portal Passwords, Syncing and Security
3.1 How the password is used. When you add a PAN or sync it, we sign in to the Income Tax portal with that PAN and password and bring back your data for that PAN. Nothing is fetched unless you start a sync.
3.2 How the password is stored. Your portal password is stored encrypted and is never sent back to your browser. You can change it at any time from the profile.
3.3 In transit. Connections between your browser, our servers and the Income Tax portal use HTTPS.
3.4 No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Who Can See Your Data
- You, from your account.
- An employer, only if you choose to share your data in response to that employer’s income or employment verification request, and only the categories, years and personal information you choose (see Section 12).
- Service providers that host and run the Platform for us, such as hosting and email delivery, only to provide the service. Advertising and analytics services never receive your tax data; what they see is described in Sections 6 and 7.
- Authorities, if we are required to by law or by a valid request from a court or government agency.
5. Cookies and Storage on Your Device
- Necessary: a sign-in session cookie and security cookies that keep you signed in and protect forms. The site does not work without them.
- Preferences: your theme and a few display choices, kept in your browser’s local storage, and whether the dashboard shows cards or a list, kept in a cookie so the page opens in that view.
- Offline copies: the installable app keeps pages you have opened in your browser’s cache so they open without a connection. On a shared device, sign out when you finish.
- Analytics and advertising: cookies and similar identifiers set by the services in Sections 6 and 7.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies will stop you from signing in.
6. Analytics and Error Tracking
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used, and an error-monitoring service to find and fix problems. These services may use cookies and receive usage and device information, which may be associated with your account when you are signed in.
7. Advertising
myutils.me is free and is paid for by advertising. Ads appear on some pages and are labelled as advertisements.
7.1 Affiliate and network ads. Many ads are banners that link to shops and products through affiliate programmes; if you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission (as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases). Some pages also show ads from advertising networks.
7.2 Google AdSense. Where Google AdSense is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
7.3 Your choices. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.
8. Retention and Deletion
8.1 Deleting a profile. Deleting a PAN profile from your dashboard removes it from your account and stops any further syncs for it.
8.2 Deleting your account or data. There is no self-service account deletion yet. To have your account, saved portal passwords and synced data erased, email support@myutils.me from the email address on your account, or use the contact form. We will confirm when it is done. Copies you have shared with an employer are covered by Section 12.4.
8.3 Otherwise we keep your account and synced data for as long as your account exists. Analytics and error data are kept for the periods set by the providers in Section 6.
9. Your Rights
You can contact us at any time at support@myutils.me to have your data deleted, to get something corrected, or with any other question or concern about your data. We will get back to you.
10. Where Data Is Stored
Your account information, portal credentials and synced tax data are stored and processed on servers run by third-party cloud providers. These servers may be in more than one region, and we do not guarantee that your data stays in any single country. We do not allow these providers to use your data for anything other than running services for us.
11. Free Tools
11.1 e-Aadhaar and PDF signature verifiers. These tools check your document in your web browser. The PDF you select, its password and its contents are not uploaded to or stored on our servers, and the print-ready copy is created on your device. To check the signer’s certificate chain, your browser may ask our certificate lookup service to fetch a publicly available certificate from the issuing Certifying Authority; only the public address of that certificate is sent, not your document.
11.2 Electoral roll search. When you search by EPIC number or browse the roll, your search goes through our server to the Election Commission’s public website and the result is returned to you.
12. Income and Employment Verification
Employers can use the Platform to ask a candidate to share income information from the candidate’s own Income Tax records. This section explains how that works for both sides.
12.1 What employers provide. To send a request, an employer enters the candidate’s name and email address and may enter the candidate’s PAN. The employer chooses which income categories to request (for example salary, business income, sale of investments, or total taxable income), marks each as mandatory or optional, and picks 1 to 5 years of history. The employer may also ask for the candidate’s personal information (name, email, mobile, date of birth, gender, address and the last 4 digits of Aadhaar). We email the candidate a secure link that stays valid for the number of days the employer chooses, between 1 and 30 (7 by default).
12.2 Your consent as a candidate. Nothing is shared without your action. You must sign in with the email address the request was sent to; the link cannot be used from any other account. You sync your data from the official Income Tax portal, see exactly which categories were requested, preview what will be shared, and choose any optional categories. Data is shared only when you confirm.
12.3 What is shared and with whom. When you confirm, we store a read-only copy of the selected income figures for the requested years, together with your PAN and, if you consent to share it, your personal information as shown on your Income Tax portal profile. Your Aadhaar number is reduced to its last 4 digits before it is stored or shown; the full number is never shared. We make it available to the members of that employer’s workspace (its Admins, Members and Viewers). The copy reflects your data at the time you shared it and is not updated afterwards. It is never shared with other employers, and under Verifications in your account you can see which employers you have shared with and exactly what each one received.
12.4 Retention. We keep verification requests and shared copies so that employers and candidates have an accurate history. If you want a shared copy removed, contact the employer and contact us, and we will review the request in line with applicable law.
12.5 Employers’ responsibilities. Employers are responsible for how they use the data candidates share with them, including complying with applicable data protection laws such as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We act as the platform through which the candidate shares the data; the decision to share rests with the candidate, and the use of shared data rests with the employer.
13. Children
The Platform is meant for adults. If you add a PAN that belongs to a minor, you confirm that you are their parent or lawful guardian.
14. Independent Service and No Government Affiliation
myutils.me is an independent analytical utility and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by the Income Tax Department, the Ministry of Finance, UIDAI, or the Government of India. Official tax services are hosted at incometax.gov.in. The data we show is retrieved from the Income Tax portal using the PAN and password you provide. We do not originate, modify or independently verify it, and we do not guarantee that it is accurate, complete or current; the portal remains the authoritative source. If something looks wrong, sync again or check it on the portal.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The “Last Updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
